Psychological evaluations are used to diagnose and inform treatment. They serve as a valid and reliable means to answer questions about the way someone is functioning in an array of settings.
There are many different types of evaluations, and they are made up of comprehensive, objective measures that assess different areas of an individual’s functioning. These evaluations are specialized and tailored to meet the examinee’s needs.
In our office, we perform the following types of evaluations:
Developmental Evaluations
These evaluations are often sought to rule out neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Sensory Processing Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Developmental Disorder, Global Developmental Delay, Language Disorder, Speech Sound Disorder, Social Communication Disorder and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.
Psychoeducational Evaluations
These evaluations aim to rule out a Specific Learning Disability in reading, writing, and/or mathematics. They evaluate some of the areas assessed in developmental evaluations, in addition to achievement functioning in different academic areas.
Gifted Evaluations
These are useful to help identify children with exceptional intelligence (in the Superior and Very Superior range of functioning). Gifted evaluations are often sought out to assist in proper academic placement of children with exceptional aptitudes.
Testing Accommodations Evaluations (Standardized Testing)
These evaluations are comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations to determine eligibility for special accommodations during college board testing (SAT, PSAT and AP exams).
Immigration Psychological Evaluations
These evaluations are comprehensive psychological assessments (often recommended by lawyers) that can be used to help immigration courts determine whether an individual will be able to remain lawfully in the United States.
Insurance
At Imagine Psychology Practice, we do not bill insurance directly and are considered out of network. By not having insurance companies tell us how to do our jobs, we can provide the superior care and treatment we were trained to offer.
That being said, we are happy to provide a ‘superbill’ receipt if you have any out-of-network benefits. Be aware that insurances vary by plan and some plans do not cover testing for ADHD or autism. Learning disability is never covered. Gifted evaluations are not covered by insurance.
